Home inventory for electronics

Every laptop, phone and camera, tracked and sorted.

The morning after a break-in is the worst time to remember serial numbers. stashu keeps a plain record of the electronics in your home — serials, receipts, photos and what you paid — so the call to your insurer takes a PDF.

Step 1 · walk the house

One room at a time. About as long as one episode.

Photograph the item, then the serial sticker, and type the number in. Add the receipt when you find it. Each room is its own collection.

Step 2 · check your cover

Most policies cap single items. Do you know which of yours are over?

Anything above your policy’s single-item limit usually has to be listed on the policy by name, or it is only paid out up to the cap. Sort by price and the ones to list sit at the top. Pick a limit.

Step 3 · the day it happens

What your insurer will ask, already answered.

  1. 01

    “What exactly was it?”

Brand and model, and the variant in the notes — the 1 TB one, not just “a laptop”.

  2. 02

“Do you have the serial number?”

Typed in from the sticker, with a photo of the sticker beside it. The police will ask too.

  3. 03

“Can you prove you owned it?”

The receipt or order email, stored with the item as a PDF or a photo.

  4. 04

    “Was it in the home?”

Photos of the item where it lives, taken before anything happened.

  5. 05

“What did you pay, and when?”

Price and purchase date per item, in your currency, matching the receipt.

  1. 00:00

    Open stashu

On your phone, from the pavement if you have to. Everything is already there.

  2. 00:30

    Export the insurance PDF

Every item in the room with its serial number, price and a photo. One PDF per collection.

  3. 01:00

    Send it

To your insurer, and a copy to the officer taking the report. Then make tea.

Already have a list?

From the last move or the last claim: upload it as a CSV and match its columns to the fields, then add the photos and serials room by room.

Moving house

A collection per room gives the new policy a PDF per room with its total, and the removals company a read-only link to the list, without prices or serial numbers.

Selling on

Serial, receipt and photos on the item, so the listing answers buyers’ questions before they ask.

Your data, out

A CSV of every field per room, or a zip of the whole account with the original photos and receipts. On every plan, whenever you ask for it.

Take the inventory tonight. Hope you never need it.
